CHEAP Toshiba 32RV525R 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV

I’ve had my Toshiba for a week now and it is an excellent toy. It looks sleek, has a fantastic HD picture (for 60hz) and all the features I need. It was a snap to hookup my laptop, a Blu-ray player, and the HD cable box to the TV. All connect to the TV using HDMI inputs, through HDMI cables purchased here on Amazon.com. It all works flawlessly. I can watch cable, switch to the laptop to look something up on Wikipedia, then switch again to a DVD.
The picture on HD content is superb. The sound is fine and gets plenty loud. The TV has “regza-link” functionality, which means the remote can control other devices that are regza-link compliant. My simultaneously purchased Toshiba BDX2000 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player is such a device, so I can control it *and* the TV with the TV remote. I like that.
So that’s my testimonial toward the quality. The other aspect of my praise goes toward the incredible sense of pride in scoring such an amazing deal. 1080p? 0? And it competes handsomely with more expensive models? Done. Get it – you’ll be happy.

I got this item on a Gold Box special, so I ordered quickly with no reviews posted. Then I saw a lot of negative comments in the Gold Box section, especially regarding the sound quality. I have had the TV for less than 24 hours so I am not going to be able to provide an in-depth review, but I will say my fears were unfounded. For 9, no shipping charges, I could not have done better. The sound is fine. The picture is beautiful. The TV is attractive and not heavy. The remote is difficult to program and we are still working on that. We are not yet able to get all of the info on shows we got from our original Dish remote, but we are down to one remote rather than the two we had previously.
Several others asked about computer usage, and I have not tried to do this although it looks like it is equipped for this use. I don’t have any reason to believe that picture-in-picture capacity exists, but who knows?
My point in the quick posting is that there is a lot of negative reaction to this product, and I wanted to report a positive experience. The most common comment was that the sound got garbled after a few hours use, and this has not occurred in its first day of performance. My old set had lousy sound, so this is a major improvement.
Good luck! And, by the way, I ordered it on Fri morning and received it Sat night…on Super Saver Shipping…bravo!

CHEAP Toshiba 15LV506 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built in DVD, White

I have been hunting for months for a good quality white digital flat screen TV for my kitchen window ledge. This is the only “choice” out there……if you are looking for a 15″, this is it! Seems impossible, but it is true. This is the only 15″ available from a manufacturer that you have actually heard of. br /br /Not only is it the only one available, but it only comes with a DVD player, so don’t bother looking for a TV without the DVD. You do get a choice of color: black or white, so don’t gripe!br /br /Another thing you need to know, is that TV manufacturers no longer bother to include an antenna with their sets, so if you are like me and are actually planning to use THE AIRWAVES to receive programming, you have to purchase a digital antenna in order to receive anything resembling a broadcast. This is not a choice, this is a necessity. If you do not subscribe to cable or direct TV or satellite or whatever, YOU NEED TO BUY A DIGITAL ANTENNA! Again, its not a matter of better reception, its the only way you are going to get reception. br /br /With that in mind, I purchased the RCA ANT1500 Large Multi-Directional Digital Flat Passive Antenna (White) which promised to bring in a maximum number of analog and digital chanels and look unobtrusive in the process. br /br /The TV and antenna both arrived today and I was able to get them hooked up and running in less than a half an hour and that included removing them from their boxes and reading the instruction booklets, programming the set, neatening up wires, etc. br /br /The TV is attractive and surprisingly, almost alarmingly light weight. It is a cinch to pick up and move around. This is not the set of yesteryear, when you needed to be a weightlifter inorder to pick up a “portable” tv. This set is light, like a big Kindle on a stand.br /br /I live in New York City and without the antenna hooked up to the TV I was able to get no programming whatsoever. Zilch. No picture, no sound, nothing. br /br /The antenna is a flat white slab that the TV is able to sit on top of. You can also stand the antenna upright or hang it on a wall. The antenna comes with a cable (how thoughtful!) that is easily attached to the TV. It requires no electricity. All connections are clearly marked. br /br /Once attached together and the “Automatic Programming” set up, I was able to get 3 analog and 47 digital chanels! While many of the 47 digital chanels are in foreign (not English)languages, all the New York local network stations came in bright and clear and ultrasharp.br /br /The sound is maybe not as loud as I would have liked but it certainly is loud enough for most circumstances. You will never turn this baby up to 11! br /br /Some reviewers complain about the TV taking an extreme length of time to turn on and then to switch stations. This is true. The tuner is very pokey. I know that digital receivers take longer than analog ones but this seems to be slower than most. We are talking about seconds here, but it does seem slow.br /br /Other reviewers complain about the large “bright light” on the front of the set that glows blue when the set is on and orange when off. Yes, there is a light and I really don’t see the big deal, its not a kleig light or a torch. Also, if you are among the ones who find it irritating, you can go in to “Set Up” and turn it off. I admit it does seem a bit gratuitous. Why provide a “decorative” on/off light when you could have supplied something far more useful…..like an antenna? br /br /I am delighted with the set. The price was right, the size is perfect, the picture very good. And, if I ever want to watch a DVD while I am cooking, I know I can!br /br /br /br /

CHEAP Toshiba 19AV600U 19-Inch 720p Portable LCD HDTV, Black

I got this for my second office as I was upgrading an RCA “TruFlat” TV. Since I do not watch TV in there too often I did not need anything really big but I did want something that was at least made this century that had a couple of HDMI inputs. My second need for this TV was to hook it up to my DVD burner and VCR to transfer all of my VHS video-cassettes onto DVD. The Toshiba 19″ LCD HD TV #19AV600U fit the bill. It’s a fine little TV. The keyword is “little.” It takes up very little space and looks very nice, although it looks more like a glorified computer monitor than a TV. The features on the TV were very simple, it doesn’t have too much though besides its basic settings. It does include a total of 6 different inputs, including 2 HDMI and 1 VGA. There is a freeze button on the remote which I find kind of odd because who would use this (the TV freezes but the sound keeps going, it doesn’t pause like DVR does). The remote was very easy to use and matched the TV in terms of looks and usability. I am not crazy about the sound on the TV. First of all, it’s rather low (keep in mind I enjoy a very soft sound setting) but this really needs to be turned up to hear it. If you often press MUTE like me you may be a little frustrated. Because the TV has something called 1/2 MUTE which means that you will need to press MUTE twice to actually MUTE it, kinda ridiculous. The TV will work with your Comcast digital remote (the set up code for Toshiba is: 10848) which I was very glad since my other new LCD TV was not compatible. I have this hooked up to a digital cable box that is not HD because I did not think it was necessary since I barely watch TV in here (the only channel I really watch, or listen to, is Music Choice’s Classic Country and that doesn’t even come in HD.) But the picture quality in 480i is very nice. I recommend the Toshiba 19AV600U to anyone who needs a third or fourth TV with rather basic and very user-friendly features. But it’s probably not the type of TV you would want as a primary or even a secondary one. One thing I am 100% satisfied with is Amazon. They are a thousand times better than those big box retailers because they truly understand the importance of customer retention because they always go out of their way to exceed the expectations of their consumers.
