I love the design and picture quality of the product. I have netflix subscription, the picture quality in netflix is perfect HD even if the movie I watch is not HD. I use my external hard drive connected thru USB of TV to watch and listen movies and songs. Even with out a cable connection we can enjoy the TV using Internet. Internt @ TV is really a very good concept. The only bad thing is that the internet connection is wired. Such a High end TV has wired connection, it should be wireless. We can achieve that using a wireless adapter which costs more. I purchased this with Kit which includes Blu-ray and 3d glasses. THe 3d glasses are very good. The bad thing is that we should change the bettaries if they are done. It would be good if they are rechargeable. We can buy 1 pair of rechargeable for 0, I will wait for the price drop and continue using the glasses provided by Samsung. There is no much thing to tell about the 3d blu-ray player. I have ordered the hdmi 1.4 cables and need to check the 3d content on how it comes. I have checked this in stores and it is so beautiful, there are no words to describe. If you want perfect sound it will be better to get a 3d surround Home theater system. the sound output is 20W. it is not a good sound. After some days of research, I found Onkyo HTS5300 System 7.1 3d surround Home Theater system with receiver. Onkyo HT-S5300 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver/Speaker Package with Dock for iPhone/iPod ( Black) Only limited stores have stock. Even if some stores take the order and after you pay they say the item is backordered. It will be better to inquire before you payThe output of the speaker system by onkyo is 1200W, it is so good. I havent ordered Onkyo system yet. I will order when it is available.

The C650 series from Samsung contains some older upgrade technology features such as CFL backlighting, 3.4″ depth, Touch of Color bezel, 120Hz Auto Motion plus and the ultra clear panel. This model falls in the lower to mid range of Samsung’s LCD/LED lineup. We thoroughly enjoyed last years B650 series LCD so were happy to review the successor model. And as anticipated, we were very pleased with the results. We hope that Samsung will continue to offer/produce a value oriented CFL backlit LCD TV as their technology contained in these TVs offer exceptional value combined with excellent quality.
Calibration: The 55C650 was very calibration friendly without going into the service menu. In fact, from the movie mode setting, there were only minor tweaks needed here and there to close in on D6500K. There is an ample array of calibration controls including white balance and noise reduction. The standard setting continues to have a major blue push. The Movie setting allows adjustment of all picture setting options and brings the picture to life.

This LCD TV has a tremendous CFL backlight. We needed only set the backlight at 7 from the 1 – 20 scale to achieve a desirable picture in a darkly lit room. The backlight strength could come in handy. Use it to control viewing in bright to dark rooms rather than change the contrast or brightness controls.
Processor Testing: The internal processing chip sets for the C650 series LCDs are stout. Edges from test material are clear and crisp with both 480i and 1080i material. Transitions are extremely smooth, even from side to side panning or fast moving objects.
720p/1080i/1080p Picture Quality: Black levels are awesome as is contrast and brightness. Images are crisp and the detail is amazing with HD sources. Here’s the big dilemna with HD content; whether to use the 120Hz AutoMotion feature or turn it off. It is not really needed. HD Blu Rays and Broadcast material are already very clear – and the feature can introduce some unwanted kitchy side effects with the background material – even though much improved from last year. I recommend turning it off for most HD content, though there will be some occasional judder effects. I would use it for animated HD content, sports programming HD content, or other HD content that has lots of fast motion. Other than that I would turn it off (see how below in features section).
After turning off the 120Hz feature, high definition content appears vibrant, realistic and extremely crisp. Blacks are rich for an LCD and contrast is a strength. One of the highlight features of the LN55C650 is its picture depth perception. Samsung has been unparalled in this area lately. I believe this is due to the companies Ultra Clear Panel technology which does allow for some glare on the screen but the tradeoff with great depth and rich colors is a winner.
Black Level/Contrast/Contrast Ratio: Black Levels on the C650 series LCD HDTV is super saturated, as black as the glossy black bezel surrounding the screen. We measured post calibration ANSI contrast at an unbelievable 5408:1 with the backlight at 7. We believe contrast is enhanced by the Ultra Clear Panel that Samsung uses for this LCD TV. The TV can get extremely bright and has exceptional range. Contrast appears superb on this TV, and we don’t say that about many – especially not LCD TVs.
Internet Options: There is an array of Internet options, some proprietary. Samsung has increased the options. The Youtube option was pretty good. We found the Yahoo! Widgets in finance and weather pretty weak and non-worthy. Some other options are Panadora, Vudu, Blockbuster, Netflix, USA today AP new ticker.
Aesthetic Considerations: The C650 has lots of looks. The 55C650 is 3.4″ deep while the smaller units are 3.2″ deep. A nice wall mount or table top depth (without having to pay up for the super thin TVs). The framing bezel is a nice width about 2″. It’s black with a plexiglass overlay that goes just past the edges to give the appearance of glass. I like the effect. Under the center bottom frame there is a unique wide V shape and subtle silver gray and red Touch of Color. A nice little accent to a design that might be slightly boring with it. The sturdy swiveling table top stand must weight 12 pounds. It has an attractive glass surface with a clear neck. The stands allow for about 20 degrees of swivel.

This was my first adventure into HDTV and LCD TV’s, but I’m a technology buff, so advanced tech doesn’t scare me (I actually enjoy it). My first impressions with this TV were the great resolution while watching Blu-ray movies (what I really think these screens are good for) and that the comments about HD shows and their “flawed” personalities was right on (ha!) I’ve connected the TV to a cable box and Sony Blue Ray player – so now I have three big remotes that all do different things. I’m considering a universal remote to solve this problem. I don’t understand why the TV plays a tune when turning on and off and I can’t find in the manual how to stop this from happening. The internet options look interesting, though I’ve only tried YouTube so far. YouTube videos play, but they look really poor because of the compression put on them and they don’t have the same controls that are available on the web site. Standard cable TV doesn’t look very good either because of the quality of the signal. Those old channels were much clearer on my old “tube” TV than with this new one. I mostly stay in the HD channels because of it. Most of these complaints have nothing to do with the Samsung TV and that’s why I gave it 5 stars anyway. I just want any new HDTV folks to not be surprised by the quality of standard programming.

I bought this TV sight-unseen based on reviews and a lot of research online. I found that Amazon had the best price for it, beating out Overstock, Samsung (duh) and even Newegg. Free Shipping was amazing, and the CEVA guys took the thing out of its box and plugged it in for me.

I (ahem) legally obtained a bunch of downloads from the interwebz and threw them on a flash drive that plugs right into the side of the TV. In my opinion, the TV upconverts better than my Samsung blu-ray player. Plenty of A/V inputs and a coaxial input as well as a couple of HDMI inputs. The menus are pretty extensive as well, though I haven’t fully explored them. The remote has a button on it that backlights the buttons, and I’ve found that extremely useful in a dark room where all the buttons were the same size and shape. The speakers on the TV itself are excellent, have rich bass and a great range. I live in an apartment so I can’t have surround sound or anything insanely loud, so the speakers on the TV will have to do. My older TV had a weird bass fluctuation where it would make the cabinet ring and vibrate, and even at higher volumes the speakers sound awesome.
Picture Quality: 5
The picture quality is absolutely outstanding. It looks exactly like a CRT, with deep blacks and vivid color. I input the settings listed in jartwo’s review and I can tell you it works great. The one drawback is the burn-in. I’ve had the TV less than a month and if you leave it on a still image for longer than a minute you will get minor burn in. However, play the TV like normal and burn in will go away.
Style: 5
The cabinet is glossy black, and it goes great with the stand I put it on, as well as the cable box and blu-ray player. Black hardware seems to be all the rage these days, so it’s fitting. I have the TV in a very dark room, but the actual viewing surface is very reflective so make sure you have blackout shades or keep it in a glare-free room otherwise you’ll go insane from looking at yourself in your living room and not what you’re watching.

I paid 0 less than what I would have paid at BJ’s, and they delivered it right into my living room, for free. Definitely worth the money for what amounts to be a cinema-quality TV.

I chose this over a similar Panasonic model and I’m glad I did when I found out the Panasonics purposefully gray-out over the course of a year. Panasonic thinks that it’s a good thing, and Samsung doesn’t, so I’m happy with my purchase. One thing I would recommend is putting it on a TV stand as high as possible so you get the fullest cinematic experience.

I ran into this Samsung 50 inch 720p plasma HDTV, a showroom model, and couldn’t help myself. Having turned it up on full HDMI, and testing it with Blu-Ray, I can only recommend that if you haven’t yet got yourself an HD television, these things are a lot cheaper than the “full tilt” 1080p LCD sets. Plasma has always had a colour rendition that is less harsh and more graduated than LCD, and having run it side-by-side with a Philips 47 inch 1080p LCD TV, I can’t say there is a huge difference between the two – watching it from 20 feet away, none. It is crisp, very rich in colour, and the blacks are significantly better. While the 1080p has a full third more pixels than a 720p screen, the picture is not one third sharper – besides, the 1080p only comes into play when you play back Blu-Ray disks, there is no other video format capable of outputting “true” HD. Cable and satellite decoders max out at 1080i, which means the HD image is written to the screen in two passes – two 480p images, essentially.br /br /I should emphasize that the sets with HDMI input connectors all handle 1080p (a.k.a. “Full HD”) input – what is important is that the set present itself to the tuner, receiver, decoder or player/recorder as a 1080p set – the Samsung does. CNET’s tests bear out that the resolution difference between the two formats is visible only when looking at screens that are 55 inches in diameter and larger – from what I see on the screen, as I sit here writing this, I have to concur. You need to realize as well that the majority of TV programming is not broadcast in 1080i, but at 720p or even lower. So if you compare the two, and consider I paid 0 less for the Samsung than I did for the Philips, you can buy two nice Blu-Ray players for what you save. Power consumption is pretty close, too, today – the 47 inch Philips is rated at 295 watts, the 50 inch Samsung at 350 watts – for both, that equates to around per month, used 5 hours a day, 7 days a week. Double that if you’ve got kids or couch potatoes in the house.br /br /When you are watching television, looking at the image at more than a couple of feet from the screen, there really isn’t any difference. You should realize, too, that the 1080p resolution (1920×1080 pixels @ 60 frames) is as high as we are going to get, for a long time. The networks do not have enough bandwidth to start delivering higher resolutions, any bandwidth increases are going to go to the internet, where only very few providers yet have 1080p, and for most consumers, that’s unwatchable, I find that even on my 12 megabit Comcast feed it tends to “hiccup”. The next advancement is, as you know, is 3D, and I will be damned if I am going to watch TV with special glasses on – IOW, for as long as they haven’t figured out how to do this holographically, HDTV is it. The veracity of my statements is probably proven best by the fact that I have replaced the 1080p Philips with the 720p Samsung for TV watching, I will use the Philips in my den as a computer monitor, something it is much better suited for than the Samsung. To think that it isn’t too long ago that you had to pay ,200 for a 21 inch NEC Multisync…

I have been actively searching for an lcd tv for 6years. Every newspaper circular etc.
I have a crt tv that worked fine and I really enjoyed seeing the prices on lcds drop and drop and drop. I finally upgraded with this beauty
This type of tv would have cost like 00 a few years back, only difference is the advanced specs like 120hz,150,000:1 and 1080p did not exist back then.
I have almost pulled the trigger on a few, like sharp or panasonic but then as I became more educated by reading specs over years on the hi-def LCD, I realized Samsung was the leader in the game.
I paid 9 for this amazing product here, PC rich and Best Buy still charge 85.
Pc Rich guys are really losers when it comes to negotiating a deal. They act like you need them…WRONG. I’ve got Amazon!! On time delivery,set up (tip the guy it’s a decent thing to do)
Amazon gives 30days free pickup warranty other stores only 21days.
To me nothing feels better than a sweet deal. Thanks Amazon.
PS. TV picture is very real and all features are outstanding, I love my TV.
I considered the LN6300 led but saw picture edge light problem reviews and that model is 0 more with no internet features.

The previous reviews were correct, so to save you time I’ll give my experience. (Even the problems were echoed on other sites)
Order process was easy, the item was received quickly (under a week) and was in pristine condition. The courteous shipping crew unpacked and set up the unit (kinda missed opening my present) and it worked flawlessly out of the box.
The picture quality is great, the only con is there is some mild light bleed through on a black screen. (I haven’t tried the recommendation above) Light bleeding through is common with LCDs, but it’s not enough of an issue to spend more money for the sets with local dimming. The sound quality isn’t so hot, even after adjusting the built in equalizer, but then again that’s what my audio system is for.
The remote could be designed better, some buttons could be grouped together better, (it almost seems ultra-lazy to talk about button placement on a remote) but it is back-lit which is a nice feature.
My TV came through with set of component ports which work well with my old VCR, the TV works great with the output from the HDMI port from the video card on my computer, and the TV has another port should I choose to directly connect a (non-DVI) VGA connector from yet another computer (don’t know why I’d do that yet . . .). It also has a port to connect it to my router (RJ-45 jack).
On a same class to class comparison, I think the Sony’s produces a better picture, it’s just that it’s not worth, to me, to spend the significant extra money.

I have agonized for years about which HDTV to buy. 720p v 1080p, Plasma vs. LCD because I am cheap and also I knew the technology would keep changing and changing, getting better and cheaper at the same time. In the end, I bet I would have been happy with any combo but I bought this 720p plasma based on reviews, price and previous satisfaction with other Samsung products. I am extremely happy with this TV and would probably pay 2x as much as I did for it if I had to. Blu ray discs, SD DVDs and even streaming Netflix looks great. There is one thing about the TV that bugged me and also bugged others according to forums I saw. If you set this TV to Dynamic picture mode, it does this annoying thing where it turns off completely the pixels when the footage goes to black. Whenever a scene fades to black it would seemingly turn off the screen (to make it more black I assume). Others have ranted about this and have yelled at Samsung to fix it. Well the good news is the fix is simple. Just don’t set your TV to Dynamic mode. Use either Standard mode or Movie mode. Problem solved. The other problem is the TV stand it comes with. Others have complained as well and it is true, the screws are really difficult to get in and basically the whole stand needs a redesign. But after you put it together once, you should not have to worry about this ever again so no big deal.
I also purchased at Samsung BD-C6500 blu-ray player at the same time and I am so impressed by the quality of the blu ray discs and the Netflix streaming. Netflix streaming quality is surprisingly good and the streaming selection is much better than I thought it would be. Next week I am calling up TimeWarner Cable and canceling cable TV completely. No need for them anymore! (will get rabbit ears of something for regular tv).
If you are considering this TV, I would say do not hesitate. If you are afraid of 720p, don’t be. Be more concerned about your source and compression. No network broadcasts in 1080p anyway. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to buy this tv.

I have been buying Sony TVs for thirty years.However when I compared what is available today, all the reviews pointed to Samsung.Apparently at present (May 2010)Sonys new 3d HDTVs are not yet available or reviewed.The largest and best Samsung I could find was the UN55C8000 55 inch HDTV.The TV was easy to mount with the picture hanger type mounting bracket(not included)over the mantle of my fireplace in the living room.The picture is beautiful.I use Direct TV and most of the channels are HD.You can clearly see actors complexions better than any TV I’ve ever owned.Also 3d works well.I have been able to leave the blinds open on the windows opposite the fireplace and still see the TV with very little glare.The internet functions work well and are easy to set up though you have to buy a Samsung Dongle to plug into a USB port on the TV if you want to receive wireless internet.It is built in on Samsung 6900 Buray player so you don’t have to but a second dongle.The sound is good even without using a separate amplifier.Despite being a longtime Sony TV fan this TV has convinced me Samsung makes at least as good if not better TV.

I bought this TV to replace a philips 32 inch LCD HDTV. I’m an avid gamer so playing games was going to be my primary usage for this TV while watching TV/Movies/Netflix/etc would be secondary. So far I really like this TV. The video quality really blew me away! Colors were so much more vibrant compared to my older LCD set. It has a nice shiny almost mirror finish on it while the remote has a more matte finish. I was a bit concerned about burn-in but this TV has various anti-burn functions built in and after several long sessions of gaming (most lasting over 5 hours) I have not noticed anything. The sound is not necessaily bad but could be better. It’s not that the TV has low sound but rather has flat sound, espicially the factory settings (most noticeable when gaming),where the sound doesnt quite have that “pop” you would expect. I found that after adjusting the sound settings, I got some pretty enjoyable sound but dont expect surround sound. Now this TV is not without its flaws either. The biggest flaw I would say is that when mounted to a wall, the buzzing/humming sound is more noticeable espicially when the sound is low. This is due to the technology of Plasma TV’s. Plasma TV’s always produce a very low buzzing/humming sound which is normal but when mounted it echoes a bit off the wall so it sounds a bit louder than normally but this can be remedied by using the stand/base rather than mounting it. Keep in mind that I’m a very observant person so I tend to notice things that other people don’t notice so it might not be too big of an issue for others. Overall, this is an excellent Tv which anyone can enjoy. Dont let some misconceptions about HDTV’s turn you off from buying this Tv espicially since its so affordable compared to similar TV’s. 1080 is nice but not a necessity; you will be shocked how great 720 looks. If you are a gamer, your Plasma screen will not burn in because you play your games (unless you leave your game paused and the static image is on screen for several hours or something). Also, for anyone buying a HDTV, please take into considerations the appropriate size/distance ratio as it will help you choose an appropriately sized HDTV which will enhance your viewing experience (Bigger is not necessarily better).
